Directing Your Own Support for Employment Highland and Islands
Simon Duffy, The Director of the Centre for Welfare Reform, the architect of individual budgets and self-directed support, is coming to speak in Inverness at our first self directed support and employment event.
The purpose of the event is to explore how the employment aspirations of people with disabilities or long-term conditions can be fulfilled through self directed support.
The event will include presentations on self-directed support and the place for employability with that and on supported employment as well as discussion around what personalisation means for you.
Information will be provided about the support to include employability within self-directed support and training for personal assistants being provided by the Scottish Union of Supported Employment (SUSE) and Values Into Action Scotland in Highland in the coming year.
The event is aimed at commissioners of local specialist employability services, people developing self directed support in Highland, supported employment service providers, local disabled people’s organisations, social workers and managers.
The event will be from 10am to 1.30pm, followed by lunch on Thursday 19th July at Smithton Free Church, Murray Road, Smithton, Inverness, IV2 7YU .
