Over the past two years the Housing Support Enabling Unit has undertaken research into the funding of housing support in Scotland. In 2008 and 2009 the HSEU contacted all housing support service managers registered with the Care Commission to invite them to take part in a survey on the funding and service volume of housing support in Scotland.  In July 2010 this exercise was repeated.  This year's research reveals that:                         

• although providers have reduced costs and secured additional funding to maintain services, the housing support sector is vulnerable to future funding reductions


• providers are concerned that they are stretching staff resources to maintain service volume and have fears that service quality will suffer in the future


• there has been a shift away from providing smaller packages of support to service users
