Career planning tool to be developed

In partnership with ENABLE Scotland and SCLD we held our first career planning workshop on 1 June 2010. Career planning should very much be part and parcel of any supported employment service but often arrangements for helping people to plan their careers is ad hoc to say the least. There are many reasons for this including



  • Services have targets to meet and therefore, often, de prioritise those who are in employment

  • Jobs negotiated are sometimes so different from those done by co-workers that it is difficult for people to progress beyond this

  • People who work only a few hours per week are less visible in the workplace and are often overlooked when it comes to training
